I convereted my magneto ignition to 12v coil. 74 chrysler 35hp. In order to start it now, I have to disconnect the arm that advances the timing and set is almost 90 degrees counterclockwise from its original position. It will not go any further counterclockwise under acceleration when all the linkage is hooked up. The linkage will not even hook up with how far turned it is now. so this won't do. Any ideas? I'm puzzled!

Re: Timing issue

Have you tried switching the plug wires? Just a stab at it, as this may just cause you to need to ADVANCE it 90 instead.<br />Another more drastic measure ,but one that definately would fix it, is to machine another keyway in the flywheel 90 degrees retarded.
