Motor 1997 Johnson 115 SPL
I pulled the power head and had 2 pistons replaced
I set the WOT timing per Joe Reeves at 27 BTDC
I have the timing rod tight and there is slack.
With the controls at WOT the timing rod and idle screw linkage can be moved back and forth about 1/2 inch.
Also after WOT timing is set, controls back to idle there is more slack as the picture shows.
And the timing at idle around 900-1000 rpm the timing is at 8-10 BTDC
I think this motor does not have the fast start feature there only one wire on the heat sencers
Is this floating of the timing rod normal?
I think my linkage is worn out.
I have a Seloc repair manual and it indicates:
Throttle pickup timing is 3-5 BTDC at 600-700 rpm
Max timing at 25-27 BTDC
