timing mark on 67 merc 500 thunderbolt?

where is the timing mark on my 67 merc 500 sn # 2167927? i see two. one has a white dot on the top of flywheel with a slit on the edge of the flywheel, the other is just a little slit mark on the edge of flywheel. i think that the one with a white dot is for timing belt? and does anyone have any tips on synchronizing the carb's to the dist advance.
