:confused:I was looking at all my throttle linkage, intstalling controls. My question is, how do i know the timing is on? Its an old motor, and im sure its been tinkered with, by the look of the screws, bolts and such. I can check it with my meter, for closed points, or I have a timing light. Hopefully i don't need too pull the flywheel to check. I need to go over the whole motor. I've changed fuel lines, and that little one, under the carb. Comes from the engine, "pulse" maybe? Outboards are kinda new to me....rather interesting!!!!

There is nothing to set on the timing except for setting the breaker points gap. Set them so they open .020" at their widest opening gets them close enough. To get them right on, the service manual says to use a special timing fixture (I make them).

The synchronization of the carburetor with the ignition is a bit more complicated.

what rotates up there when the throttle is activated and returns, are the coils stationary to the powered, or they rotated....i'd go look but it freezing out there....and those compact bulbs take forever too warm up...lol
