I have an 88 Force 125, that I am trying to get the timing set on. It was running good, but I decided to recheck the timing, when I put it back together after a Carb rebuild, and added Boyesen reeds to the engine.

When I hooked up the timing light, here is what happened. The timing mark on the fly wheel (28 degrees) was over to the left (when inside the boat looking back at the engine) of the timing pointer by about 2 inches when looking at the timing light. Now, I think this could have been my fault, because I forgot to put it in gear, and only had it running in idle when I tried this. So I am hoping that this was the problem, since the timing advance of being put in gear didn't move it to the correct timing.

I have'nt had a chance to try timing it again. Cause I don't want to **** off the neighbors at night, when its dark enough to see the timing light.

Could this have been my problem? Or is it possible that I slipped the flywheel somehow?

Thanks,
Bryan Cox
