i have a 81 searay with a merc 120 engine 2.5 litre, this winter i had to put a new cam gear and timing case cover on it. this is where the problem is, merc dosent make the cover any more so i had to go to the junk yard and get a cover off a truck. the cover did not have the the braket on it to set the timing how can i set the timing now without that braket. i put a mark on the new cover at top dead center but i dont know which way to go before or after the mark. thanks for any help in advance.
