Timing Procedure

I have a Merc 350 V-8 260hp with a Thunderbolt IV ignition. Could someone give me the timing procedure for this engine/ignition setup?

What year?
It should be as simple as putting the light on it & 8* btdc....JK

It's a 1983. I was curious as to what the idle rpm's should be when setting the timing as well.

8° BTDC @ 650-700 rpm.
