Re: timming issue merc 260/5.7

Are you setting the T-Bolt V into Base Timing Mode with the Jump Wire,......

If Not,.... The Spark Controller is Faster than You are at changing the Timing.......

Are you sure you have a Thunderbolt V, the 1990 model only had a TBolt IV system.

In case someone upgraded the engine or ignition system somewhere along the way. Here is the procedure used ONLY on the TBolt V, it's not used on the TB IV system.

Nope,.......

The T-Bolt IV Doesn't have a Base Timing Mode,.....

Just throw the Light on it,+ Set the Timing.........

Make SURE that you have the Idle set right,..... That'll Screw it All Up......

timming will not get below 10-12 degrees. it will ping if i run up above 3200 rpm i dont really ever push it that hard but i know something is not right and that bothers me and the engine.

Re: timming issue merc 260/5.7

I think what Reel Poor is asking is when it will not go below the 10-12 degrees, it is because the distributer will not turn any further?
So I have to ask: Are you on the correct wire? #1?
& are you sure you have the correct position of the ign. wires?.........JK
