I am running a V8 and want to intall a Tiny Tach. I like the hour meter but more importantly, want to verify the accuracy of my tach in the dash.

I assmue I set this to 360? Meaning one revolution per spark?

also, says to wrap the red wire 3 or 4 times for accurate reading...how many time did you wrap it?

Thanks in advance

I have considered getting a Tiny Tach for my small outboards and lawn equipment, but haven't purchased one yet. Your Mercruiser fires each cylinder once for every two revolutions. I assume the red wire is suppose to wrap around a plug wire?

Re: Tiny Tach install questions

I bought a TinyTach last year for a 1 cylinder, 4 stroke outboard I have. I don't remember if I had to adjust it when I put it on or not but if I did it was simple and it has worked correctly since I installed it. They have an e-mail address you can send questions to:
help@tinytach.com
I wrapped the red wire around the spark plug wire 4 times. It is a solid strand insulated wire that has stayed tightly wrapped for almost a year now. The one thing you need to pay attention to is how long of a red wire you get, depending where you are going to mount the display unit. I forget how long the standard red wire is but they say if you need it longer you shouldn't make it longer yourself. You can order a longer red wire when you order it. The other wire is just a ground wire and I guess you can extend it yourself if needed. Mine has worked great since the day I installed it.
