Interesting I noticed at the TT website - there's several options and explanations which to use - and is indeed confusing and probably incomplete which is what OP was talkign about.

Then you look at Cabelas and they only offer one item, implying like you've said, it should work on any engine.

So, which Tiny Tach works on a two cylinder, 2 stroke outboard engine? I really can't tell, from the TT website, but maybe I'm just dull.Originally posted by Ed:
Definately call, the tiny tach I got from cabellas & was supposed to work on all motors registers twice my rpm. Either that or my motor likes to run at 10k rpm.It wasn't worth the effort to sent it back by the time I found out.
I understand that from their web site. But again how about for us fairly ignorant consumers. Really, without looking it up, I don't know how this applies to a 2 cycle, 2 cylinder engine. Don't all engines of this type have the same pulses per revolution? Is this not a very common engine type for their product? Why wouldn't they just list it - it seems more common than many of the engine types they list. Again, I'm not challenging you or any other poster, just complaining about their web site and information. It wouldn't be that hard to save us a phone call, and I think it would be better and more efficient marketing for their product.Originally posted by seahorse:
With a Tiny Tach, the number of cylinders does not make a difference.

Only the number of spark pulses on a plug wire per engine revolution is required to know which style tach.
