Are there any special tricks in spraying stripes over brightside paint? When I spray two different colors, the have a tendancy to bleed under the masking tape into the dry one. Is there any special tape for stripes? any tips are more than welcome

The stripe I'm planning on doing is 2-4-8 then 12 inches wide. I can't find any customized stripe at a reasonable price like that.

Interesting ..... Never heard of frog tape ..... I'll give it a try too. Website mentions latex paint mostly, but still worth a shot.

Re: Tips for spraying Stripes

For stripes I use 3m Fine line tape ( kinda pricy ).

The trick is after you lay this tape down and before you prep the surface take a rag along the tape edge pressing it down. Then take a red scotch bright pad and scuff the tape and tape edge ( your kinda prepping the tape so when you pull it off it doesnt flake and chatter ).

Hope this helps.

Re: Tips for spraying Stripes

Any tips for making a template or tracing a design for stripes like the older Starcrafts have (pic in avatar)?
I want to be able to make them pretty much the same, and since I don't do this all the time what would be the best way to do it. I was thinking of using the vinyl weave, but I don't know if I will be able to get that done by the time I want to paint.

It's probably just time and effort, but I might as well ask. :D

For making remplates, use frisket paper or film. It has a mild adhesive back and can be cut to shape with scissors. For masking I would only use 3M automotive masking tapes. These are not available at Home Depot or such so get them from an automotive paint store.
