Re: tips on adjusting shift cable?merc 140hp 4cyl 3ltr '89
haut, you saved me!!! thx for chiming in! all i did was move the adjustable stud to the lowest position and turn the prop to make sure i was in fwd.i then measured it and it was 6" on the money. i spun the prop and all i heard was sweet silence! if you hadn't told me of the 6" i probably would have spent days or weeks on it or much worse never done anything about it.the book never said anything about 6". i can't thank you enough! you and a few other seasoned vets should really open up your own site and make some money giving advise. but i'm sure its not about the money, its the love of it all.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH, one person, i won't mention any names...said "if it ain't broke don't fix it. if it shifts gears it's fine". with advise like that i would have ruined my clutch dog and my fwd/ rev gears, right? maybe iboats should pay you to monitor the advise given here. thx again! I LOVE THIS WEBSITE! SAVED ME THOUSANDS ALREADY! YOU'RE THE MAN!
