Evenin.

Just noticed that after replacing my MC1 lower drive unit I cant select the forward position on the controlls.

I suspect something went wrong on my install but cant understand what ? Might have left her in forward when istalling the unit.

I guess I wil have to drop it and do it again so wanted to ask if there are any tips for getting the splines engaged and correct gear position so that this does not happen again.

Thanks in advance.

Ron.

Before you take the drive off, raise it up and look at where the shift shafts are together. if they aren't, you probably forgot the washer on top of the shift shaft bushing that keeps the lower shift shaft up in position.

If you are in forward gear as you are supposed to be you shouldn't have to guide anything but the splines. slight ccw pressure on prop to keep in gear not so much of a problem if the drive is tilted forward.

Either the washer as Don suggested or your shift shaft get repositioned. Should point forward in forward gear.
