I bought a depth finder and am planning on installing it soon. Directions say to mount at least 1' from motor in an area where there is smooth flowing water. Instructions say that strakes on an aluminum hull can cause cavitation and to mount between center of strakes closest to motor. Does anyone have problems with the strakes causing interference? Also my hull is a semi-vee so I plan to mount center line of transducer at lower side of hull. Is this a good way to determine depth of transducer? Any help welcomed before I drill into my transom.
