I have been running a 115Hp Suzuki on a 15ft bass boat but have put the motor on a 16.5 ft bass boat based much on the ranger hull design.

I would like to buy a stainless steel prop on iboats and have narrowed it down to a Michigan Wheel Ballistic 13 1/2 17 pitch prop or a Rapture 13 1/4 " R15. Pitch is not so much of importance to me but the type would be usefull.

Rudie

Well, first off, Hey to a fellow Bass Fisheman.

Now, you havnt given us much more information than if you would have said, "Hey, I have a boat and I need a prop, what do you think"?

So we know it is a 16.5' boat, and its a 115 HP engine, but we have no Idea as to the performance of the 15' boat with the same engine, or what the #s are for the combination you have now, RPM at WOT. What pitch prop are you running now? Stainless or aluminum. Saying that the pitch isnt important is redicules. Cough up some information we can use.

Re: Tips on prop please

So far I have had trouble with the motor that is why I say pitch is not so important at this stage because i can not give you solid facts on WOT, (yes I know pitch is important)( The motor is not running at peak rpms yet (Sorting it out at the repairs site). I am getting 4800-5000 rmps with the factory standard aluminium 13 1/2 17 pitch, the figures were the same on the 15 ft boat ... I cant give you more info on the hull cause it is a local hull based on the Ranger design. I would simply start to look at manufacturers and type of prop and determine the pitch only once the motor is running at peak. It is no use i put a 15 pitch prop on a 115 Hp simply to get the rpms up to compensate for the motor not running @ 100% WOT.

Rudie

I'm sure we would all have some great recommendations as to props but we all know that engine needs to be running correctly to recommend anything.
No idea what your shop has done but how's compression look?
Your symptoms also would lead me to throttle sync next. proper fuel flow, ignition system and timing.
Keep us posted.

To be quite honest I dont think the guys in the shop know much more than I do. Compression runs about 94- 98 psi on all the cylinders , if you would like to go to my post on the Suzuki repair posts you would see that my bottom cylinder is running very rich and the guys at the shop cant get the thing fixed( please see photo). the worst of all is that I cant buy a whole carb kit but have to buy the spares one by one from a blow up view on their computer, now what to buy
