Im shopping for a new set of tires for my 06 silverado. I found this place online called onlinetires.com. Has any one heard of these people? They have the best price but not sure if I should trust them. Just wondering if any on here has delt with them befor?

Re: Tire help

The one challenge with ordering tires online is that you have to pay shipping and find a shop that will mount and balance tires not bought at their shop. I found that after I added in the extra costs of shipping, mounting , balancing, new stems, and disposal of the old tires, it ended up being the same or more expensive than just having my local shop do it. That's been my experience anyway. I haven't heard of the website you mentioned, but another reputable online store is www.discounttire.com to do some price comparison with.

Re: Tire help

check with your new car dealer, ... yup it was hard for me to believe too.
my sister recently needed tires for her explorer, she checked Sam's, walmart, all the local discount tire places, she called the local ford dealer just out of curiosity and they beat the price of them all by a good bit of money, I don't remember the exact amount but it was like 10-20 bucks per tire mounted and balanced

Agreed.
Another factor is that at last with tires, if there is an issue, a local dealer can provide some level of service (e.g. pro-rating a replacement with tread separation after 5000 miles).
If you're just trying to save a few bucks, unless you're in the sticks, there is going to be a tire distributor somewhere near you. Typically, they will cater to the public.

Re: Tire help

I would think so.
Why don't you call them to confirm? There will be no surprises and you'll have piece of mind.

BTW - link showed BF Goodrich rubber

I have always found that unless you can & want to mount, balance and change/rotate the tires yourself, go to someone local.

Re: Tire help

Thanks for reminding me ... I need to order 2 tires for the church mini-bus today! Yep, getting them local ... warranty, installation, and support local business are all the reasons that I am buying local (when all the "stuff" is added up it will cost me about $0.72 more per tire to go local with the purchase). Definitely worth it in hassle saved!

Go to a local place. Mine includes free mount and balance for the life of the tire.

As Peanut would say "what the heck"

Where do you smell spam in this post? Perhaps you should step out of the kitchen, away from the fry pan with the "spam" cooking!!!!
With the number of post you have, its pretty sad that all you have to say is " I smell a SPAMMER!!!!"
I asked for an opinion and got it. ( thanks all)
Then you have to come along and leave a "negative" reply!

WHY!!!!

Re: Tire help

Yup, the spam post was deleted. When 99% of the spam posts are deleted they are wiped from the post. Fortunate part is that the entire thread did not get zapped (which has happened before).

In regards to the number of posts I have..... look at the date I started with iboats and do the math.

Did you get your tires yet? Another alternative which was not mentioned was to check the junkyards. When a late model car gets totaled the tires are usually still in good shape.

Re: Tire help

Sorry Bob, I didnt realize that there was a spam post that was zaped. My apologies.

I havent got my tires yet, been driving the Escape. Its better in the snow anyway.
SNOW:eek: Yep, people asked me yesterday when I got to work, "how were the roads?" My answer, "dont know, it was snowing to much to see them"

Anyway, didnt mean to offend any one.....

P.S. I am checking the local junk yards, so far, I have found 1 or 3 tires:confused:, Cant seem to find a complete set. I guess im going to have to pay up, But that comes out of my new boat money.....
