So for the past year or so I've gone threw two sets of tires! I discovered one side of the axel is off set by 2/16 of a inch, could that be the reason? Do I losen up the two U-joints on the leaf springs and tap it til they both are the same then retighten them? I was also debating on putting regular car tires on it which to me wouldnt wear as fast. My 15ft alum boat weighs less than 1000 pounds.

Thoughts?

Check toe in first.
To do this jack the wheels and get a can of spray paint. start turning the tire and spray the paint on the center section of the tire. After spraying take a Phillips screw driver and while holding it steady, spin the tire until there is a mark in the paint in one line around the tire. Repeat this for both tires. Set the trailer back down and measure the distance in the center of the tire, even with the axle, or as high up to the axle as possiable. You want to measure from your marks on the front and the back of the tire. The toe-in should be zero to no more the 1/4 inch toe-in.

yes, if you are 2/16" off thats 1/8" out of alignment and that will wear your tires out quickly because the trailer is riding at a slight angle. you need to see if you can figure out how it got out of alignment. it may have been like that from the dealer or maybe it dropped off the back of a launch ramp and had to be yanked baxck out ormaybe as simple as just had loose axle bolts and it moved when you hit a big pot hole but it should be investigated so it doesn't happen again.

first measure to make sure the trailer isn't bent and that the frame is square so you know your measurements are accurate then set the axle straight.

the weight load you have is very light so that has no bearing on your tire wear and its an alignment issue so there is no need for contemplating using different tires (that's a whole other thread when you get into car tires vs trailer tires)

Re: tires wearing

Size of wheels and tires?

Load rating of tires?

Maximum air pressure printed on sidewall of tires?

Air pressure you run the tires at?

Does the trailer wiggle, sway, or shimmy as you are towing it?

Where are the tires wearing? inside edge? outside edge? unevenness across the tread?

Photos of the wear would help.
