Well I just finished rebuilding lower unit and placed the motor on the transom of my pontoon. Hooked everything up ( fuel,batt.,tac. )

new 12 gal fuel tank and new gas from the station that day. Battery fully charged new plugs (autolite)

Turned the key first time > fired up and ran for about 1 1/2 min.(with muffs on) Then cut off
after that it will not restart

I don't know what's up.

Can the fuel be bad? (it came from BP that day)
I was thinking it may have run on the fuel that was in the lines and pump ( old fuel that was treated with sea foam before motor was removed) then when it got to the new fuel it cut out. Does this sound likely/ or possable?

How can I clear the fuel system of existing gas and start with new fuel agin?
Do I need to put sea foam in all my gas?
How can I tell if all cylinders are firing?
What else should I look at?
thoughts please. Spring is just around the corner.

Thanks guys.

Re: Tldi no start

Update:
I drained all the fuel from tank & filters. Replaced with new fuel an still mo start.:(

I pulled out all spark plugs and cleaned them using a propane torch and a wire brush. Reinstalled plugs and gave it a crank.

Poof. It fired up and ran for about min. Then out and will not start agin

I removed and cleaned plugs agin put them back and it started agin.

I guess these plugs just can't hang.
I have ordered the ngk plugs. I hope they will solve my issues.

no codes

I followed the manual on resetting after a bolted it up. it was beeping every few min. that was before i had a fuel tank so i had not started it yet.

after clearing, no codes.

pugs seem to get covered in oil and stop sparking.

That's a puzzle then...The tach will pulse a trouble code for virtually anything that is out of wack. So, it might be non DFI oil, incorrect sparkplugs, etc. Just to make sure:

You have a 1000 CCA battery
You re-set the TPS
You force fed the fuel pump
You purged the oil lines

Re: Tldi no start

put in the NGK plugs in about 20 min ago and they seem to have solved my problems :D:D

started it up an ran for about 10 min without dieing. it does have some sputters and small RPM fluctuations but that will hopefully go away after I can open up the RPMs on the lake.

Thank you all for your help!!! (pavnv & TOHATSU GURU)

until my next issue/problem

I will finally get to test out my new prop soon.

Plan on pulling those plugs out and cleaning them in 2 or three hours. If the old pluigs were fouling out you may have some debris on the top of the pistons that may shake loose.
