Just curious what you guys think. I will not be storing my boat in the water more than a weekend normally.

Also, the bottom has been painted with anti fouling paint; am I stuck then with using that kind of paint?

So what do you think.

Thanks

most antifouling paint has copper compound additive, very bad for alum hulls. there are special alum-hull antifouling paints; look at West marine site for info. i think salt water accelerates the galvanic interaction too; if you'll be using your boat in salt and pint is conventional copper-based stuff, i might consider stripping and repainting first.

It has a non-copper antifouling paint on it. It is faded bad and the paint is in bad shape.

Strip it. If it is on an aluminum hull it won't be so difficult to remove. No need for ablative paint if you only leave it in a couple days. Wash it off after each use.

your bigger worry on leaving the boat in the water will be the motor and mechanical/electrics, not the hull. maybe post some pics so we can get an idea of how bad your current paint is and we can give you more intelligent input (also, we're just boat voyeurs stuck at work)
