is that 4.5' wide? isnt that gonna add a lot more engineering to what could be accomplished by a 4'wide sheet of ply?

an excellent point, thats why I said you could tweak the measurements. So sure, it is now 4' across.

a scarf joint could fix the 4.5 problem<br /><br />scarf joints are strong, and easy to make

But still, wouldn't it save time just making it 4'? I think you could successfully build it out of two 4x8' marine plywood sheets.

Well, lets do it. Anyone thoght of the showboat? Maybe a 1/2 size for just a couple of people. Or double size for a lot of people. Just seems like a cool project, but have a lot going on. Who knows, someday I may be building it.
