Just my opinion but I think Mariah boats are in the top five best production boats built.
There list of standard equipment is long .There more expensive than most, but yuo get what you pay for. If it's been properly maintained you won't be disappointed

mariah is out of business, there are too many good thriving boat companies to settle for a mariah
crownline ,regal ,searay ,chapperal,larson

I agree with three of them, crownline , chapperal & larson. add cobalt to that list.As far as searay, I've owned two of them. SRV 192 & 260 CC. Will never buy a searay again.

Cobalt is the best one also in opinion.
But Mariah is not a bad choice. In my opinion you get more style for the money in comparison to Sea Ray.
And now when Challenger Offshore has started to manufacture Mariah models, they might get even better. In addition to that, they supply parts for current Mariahs. Therefore if I were you I would go for Mariah or then invest some extra bucks in boating and buy a Cobalt.

Go to boattest.com I think they do a great nonbiased opinion with there tests. At least you will have voices from the industry, and they do a lot of testing. No one is going to tell you that the boat they presently own is a bummer. It's after they get a replacement, that the former boat ##+%$###@+!!

Re: TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY... MARIAH 240Z

I just got back from having a new floor installed in my boat ((I removed the old floor and stringers--thats another post), anyway there was a two year old Mariah at the shop and I asked what was up with that--my advice to anyone looking at a Mariah--run, run fast, run faster and don't look back. The boat is a horror story, built so bad that the stringers were not secured to the floor and literally beat several holes through the hull. To top it off, the owner took it back to dealer who sent it to the factory dor a rebuild and it sat for 3 months and the owner receives a call from dealer saying boat needs to be shipped from factory to Phoenix--owner thinks its repaired-- NOT-- Mariah is bankrupt and if he wants the boat back he has to shell out $2300 to have it shipped back-- and here is the kicker-- it sat at the factory and the engine got water in it somehow and is now locked up.. The boat is beautiful, but what a POS.

After reading several other Bulletin boards on the subject of Mariah, I'd say the majority of Mariah owners love there boat, myself included. But the ones who have had problems, went through @!#* trying to get it resolved. Hopefully the new owners will bring respectability back to the Mariah name. I don't regret buying mine.

You might want to do your homework... If I remember correctly, I thought I read in this months Boating Life Magazine that Mariah boats was bought out by another company and was coming back into production.

Homeworks been done. Mariah was bought by Challenger Offshore and Seafox. That was my point. These companies will hopefully resolve any quality issues and take care of current owners problems. Time will tell.
