Does anyone have any thoughts on which is a better boat? The 195 stingray or the 180 crownline both with 190 hp.

Re: to buy or not to buy

No body will really be able to help you in your decision with out a ton of more information.

Year, condition, service records, hours, climate, salt/fresh water, price, what you are wanting to do with the boat, etc.

Its kind of like asking someone, which is better, a dodge 3/4 ton, or a ford 3/4 ton. If you don't have a preference right off the bat for one or the other, and thats all the info you give, I would be more apt to buy the new ford 3.4 ton with all the fixings than the 1982 Dodge that wont start at the same price.

Distinctly different boats. The Stingray is quite a bit faster while the Crownline is more plush. Being bigger, the Stingray will also handle a crowd of people better. Being smaller gives the Crownline a garage advantage. Tough choice actually. Of course a Crownline 192 would kind of give you both worlds. Take a hard look at the trailers the dealers are offering too.

Kelly Cook

both trailers are shorelanders, and yes the crownline looks alot more plush and i like the way it looks but what about overall performance especially with watersports between the two??

I would expect the bigger Stingray to be slightly better, but that is really splitting hairs. Prop selection, with either boat, will affect watersports performance more than any difference in these boats.

If you need the extra size of the Stingray, go with that. If you really like the nicer appointments and finish of the Crownline, go with that. As I said, I have no dog in this fight, both boats are valid choices.

Kelly
