Navigational light on bow had automotive wiring from the factory. Less than great shape after 9 years. Decided to replace it. Attached my fish to the cable where it comes out under the center console. Pulled it from the bow. Made it to about 2 feet from the outlet on the bow. There is a narrow constriction for the wiring there which of course bunched up my tape and fish/cable. Lost the darn thing.

Now I have to try and pass something through the channel from the bowlight opening down to the center console by "pushing" it. I can open up the narrow constriction by drilling and using a sabre saw. That can be resealed afterward. It is in the anchor holding area and accessible by lifting a casting deck hatch. Anybody ever tried something like this before?

Tell me theres a handy Ronco Vegamatic device not available in any stores for $19.95 that will do the deed. I suppose using something fairly stiff might work. Just hope it doesnt get out of the carrier tray for the wiring and hang up some where. Much tougher pushing than pulling. Maybe if I had a trained mouse.....

Gil, sorry to link into and abscond with your isp, but I am in Elathea and wanted to tell you that if you use the 8600 controller it will route the cable for you. The newer 10 series controller does not have the horizontal routing module. Just keep it in incremental and the feed rate moderate.

Bentley8

Gil009,
Been reading thru the post here and found yours. I would think by now you have solved your routing problem. I used two things for routing, copper ground wire very stiff and will bend some. I have also used very thin but stiff bailing wire.
Hope all went well with your project.
Beck

Thanks, Beck. I actually used some stiff plastic from my Ariens bushwhacker. Uses very heavy gauge weedeater type lines. Very Heavy.. worked great. Never did get it through the original hole.... just too small. But I did find a way around it that took it through the anchor hold and wasn't too bad. Ended up wiring the entire boat. Finally happy with all the wires.

Is the wire you need to fish through a tube? If it is, string and a compressor work wonders.

Get some string and shoot compressed air through the tube feed the string into the airstream and it will come out the other end.

I always used the longest piece of old choke cable I could get. You can pick these up at the auto parts store.
It's thin, stiff and when your done you can roll it up and put it away till you need it again.
