i hope i can word this so you can understand:redface:

1- i have a 14 ft fiberglass boat,(glass craft)

2- 50 hp envenrude with a 13 pitch prop. (runs 5000rpm)

3-with leg trimmed all the way down, it wont get on to plain? (it still has a high bow)

question is = 1- if you have to much pitch.. would it keep you from getting on plain? ( to much torque).

thanks.

Re: to much pitch?

You are propped perfectly,5000 is right where you want to be so don't change prop.

It should run bow high for a short time then come on plane, if you have the motor trimmed all the way down and are still bow high and won't plane I would check for water in the hull.

If you are hauling around a couple hundred pounds of water that would cause the boat to not plane.

Has this boat ever planed out or is it new to you?

you either have a sick boat or motor, time to find out which.

Tuna, A 50HP motor on a 14footer is usually max HP. It should zip around at 28+MPH, on plane, at 5000RPM. How do you know you are achieving 5000RPM?

Iwould think that if the RPM is accurate, either the prop is ventilating or the boat has a hopeless amount of weight in it.

Re: to much pitch?

Depending on what model the 50 is, 5000 is lugging the motor. For the moment we'll assume it's a 2 cylinder model. At 5000 top rpm it wouldn't be surprising that the holeshot is bad but should still get on plane.

As suggested you need to look at motor health, weight and balance. Tes, the prop could be venting too much or not enough. At some point it must get on plane or you wouldn't know it hit 5000. Or is 5000 a guess?
