I'm assuming you're asking if there is a maximum time period you can run using the water muffs. I've run them for several minutes while winterizing mine with no issues. So long as you're providing water for cooling and its circulating properly, I don't see any real restrictions however I'd be interested in the more seasoned veterans opinions.

All I know is there is no acceptable time to run them WITHOUT.

as long as you have the good water supply and it is circulating, there is not a time limit. Don't walk off and leave it running though, there have been many motors burn up, because the dog, kids, pull the hose, or the muffs vibrated off.

I run mostly in salt water, so my engine is going to get the muffs in the driveway whenever I get back in for about 15 minutes. This is just good maintenance.

If it sits up in the garage for more than about 6 weeks, I pull it out, stick on the muffs and let it run for about 20 minutes. (All the while standing there daydreaming about fish, waves, why the heck I'm not out on the bay, yadda yadda yadda.) This is therapy.
