After a few different attempts at polishing my boat, I gave in to the Vaseline...

And look at the results!!!

Its actually a 0.25$ job...Bought a jar of Vaseline at the dollar store for 1.00$ and only used a quarter.

Tomorrow, I'll be dropping a coat of Meguiars Flagship on top. It really has deepend the gelcoat and gotten rid of the pitting.

Hope it lasts...

Does it work? Yep! Does it last? Typically no due to the UV rays. Applying an UV protectant will help with longevity but to get it to last a long time there is no substitute for Elbow Grease!

Have to admit though, she looks nice now!!!!;)

Sorry to say it will only last until the grease you put on washes off. Next time try an orbital sander with p2000 wet sand from a auto paint supply store followed by maguires oxidation remover. Then follow up with flagship. Total time to refinish that entire boat 3 hours max. The finish should then last 3-5 years with anual waxing. I just did a 21 ft mastercraft 1995 for a guy in 1.5 hours. Wet sand removes oxidation fast from fiberglass. The maguires oxidation remover will polish that mirror like shine into it. The wax protects it from uv.

Yup, have seen the results before. Many people use it most of the season and are happy......

If you are happy.....you did fine ;)

Well, today I rubbed off the excess Vaseline, polished her up with Meguiar's #44 Color Restorer and then finished off with a good coat of Meguiar's Flagship Premium boat wax. She looks great. I don't know why (and I have no science to back this up) but I do feel thatbthe Vaseline deepened the color and got rid of all sorts of imperfections.

You now need a good pair of sunglasses to get on my boat, 'cause the old girl SHINES!!! :)

Really do feel that I did good.

Thanx for all the great comments!
