Toggle Switch Too Short

Bought a togggle switch to kill power to my boat stereo. Didn't want to mount on dash, so chose a spot beside driver's seat in the rear battery compartment.
Being an idiot and not planning ahead, I drilled the hole for the switch and then figured out the wood/fiberglass is too thick for the switch to protrude through hole.
Is there a long thread toggle available, or should I just fill the hole and mount elsewhere? A quick search on Ebay didn't show a long thread spst switch

Ayuh,... You could use a spade bit to thin the area of the switch,....

I donno of any extended switches anywhere,....

Route out the back side for clearance.

Look on real sites like mouser.com, digikey.com or carlingtech.com for switches vs ebay

If you can't get to the backside to make a pocket hole with a spade bit or forstner, you could use a hole saw to knock out a 1.75" or 2" or so hole, mount your switch in a Heyco dome plug, then install the plug in the hole with some silicone sealant.

EDIT: or, do the hole saw, and instead of a dome plug use a 2.5" or 3" (that is, slightly oversized) circle cut from 1/4" starboard, mount switch in that and install with a few screws and whatever sealant you like.

You can do any of the above suggestions if you can get to such areas, or you can simply mount the switch on a panel (metal or wood) and cut out the area to allow the back of the switch to fit. Then screw the panel to the original panel that you already drilled and it works perfectly. Easy Peasy. JMHO

The power switch on the stereo doesn't work???

It does but only turns the radio off. The clock is still displayed and I don't want it drawing current. It is wired directly to battery and I could have wired it to ignition switch, but want to be able to listen to it if I'm fishing or just floating around.
