Hello everyone . I am new here to the site. Hoping I can get help. I have a 120 ob Tohatsu w/ less than 100 hours on it. The bottom cyl crank bearing is gone, I'm told I need a new crank etc etc . Can I have this one rebuilt? or is there somthing I can do other than buy a new crank?? . Long story short orig owner of motor passed away & the boat & motor sat tied to a dock for a long time & took in water . The motor purred but then made a bad noise so I shut it down & ripped apart. I didn't know the story behind the motor/boat taken water in untill I took motor apart & contacted origonal owners son. The motor is super super super clean & want to get her running again... Thanks so much for any help I can get ....

Only method our shop would use would be to replace the crank assembly. The crank is a pressed assembly, and you cannot take the rods off.

I am not sure of the exact year but when I say it's clean I mean clean Ive been a mech many years (cars, bikes etc) None marine but have never seen a motor so clean & unused .The pistons dont have ANY wear marks still factory hone scores. Maybe it is or will be a pit but I can't give up knowing how lil the motor was run..I do appriciate you looking out for me on the money pit :).Thanks

How much does a crank like this run to have rebuilt? Also how do I determine exact year I am thinking mid 90s???Also where & who are Akermans?? Web site??

How bad is the crank journal area at the bad crank bearing?

If there is little or no wear/damage, then replace the bearing and march on.............Don

I was told it cant be rebuilt cause the bearings are non replaceable. I sent it to a crank shop in Maine apparently just the bearing/s are rusted but no damage to the shaft..
