Tohatsu 2.5 has low compression and won't start

I got this motor for nothing and it might be worth that! It won't start. I changed the head gasket because the compression was almost zero. It now shows 60 (but this is the first time I ever did a compression test). Is the compression to low for it to start? I'd buy a carb kit if I thought it had a chance to start. It does have spark. I tried spraying 2-stroke gas in the carb and the cylinder but it still won't even try to start. Thanks.

The compression is going to vary with the gauge so I wouldn't be overlay concerned with it at this point. I would be think more along the lines of a fuel system issue unless something else is reveled along the way. As long as the needle is not overly worn you can skip the carb kit. Just clean the carb correctly and try it again.
