hi

i have a 2000 year 25hp Tohatsu 2 stroke, short shaft tiller outboard.
Does anyone know the standard prop size that would be on that model ?

Also i am looking for a spare prop to buy, does anyone know whether this one on ebay would fit?

Was thinking its better to have any prop incase of hitting something while out but would like to know how the spare i buy is going to affect the engine compared to the original prop.

many thanks

Re: Tohatsu 25hp Prop

commando, that prop is not even close, we need to know about the boat size, weight, length and how much extra people and gear you carry as well.

You might try reading this for a better understanding of changing props for better performance, and for the major differences between aluminum props and stainless steel.

Re: Tohatsu 25hp Prop

hi thanks for that.

my boat is 3.5m long and weighs about 150kgs with the fuel and engine.

i carry 3 people and 2 surfboards.

i dont know if the original prop on the outboard is right for the boat and weight, but i wanted to get a spare prop that wouldnt be un-useable on my setup.

Re: Tohatsu 25hp Prop

Now is the time to try to get the very best prop; then use the old one for a backup.
If you get us your present prop size and rpm and speed we can tell if a different prop is in order.Lacking details;prop size, your best estimate of speed, hole shot light performance and loaded performance.Lacking all this just get the same prop on the motor now.numbers are usually on the barrel or under the prop nut.
If its strictly backup just "any prop" go with less pitch not more.Just be aware to not over rev when you use the backup.

no numbers on the prop.
