Tohatsu 3.5 , 2 stroke

HI: I am thinking about buying a new 3.5 hp Tohatsu outboard for my 12 foot Alumacraft Jon boat. I have looked at other motors but I am almost ready to buy the Tohatsu, the price is right ,$559.00. I just want as many opinions about it as I can get. Based on what the replys are I will or won't buy the motor. Thanks, Dan.

Are these small engines all made by the same company? The merc, tohatsu, nissan (and others) all look exactly the same except for some minor cosmetic differences.<br /><br />I use a 3.5 on my Columbia 26. (about 5500 lbs) Works perfect for cruising the harbor and docking. I don't think I would want to get caught in a current and having it as my only motor

hi!consider this:tohatsu is making the small 2strokes for many mfg. its wery god. igot a 80s model and have tortued it serve.....it wont quit..
