Hi Everyone,

I have recently started working on a Tohatsu M40c that has been sitting for over 5-6 years. I have gotten the engine running the only issue is that the steering cable has been cut with the arm left inside the tube still. I belive it is called a tilt tube, may be wrong. So I have tried banging the remainder of the steering arm back through from port to starboard side but it wont budge. Are they any nuts that would prevent it from being removed that I may have missed?

I will post pics as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks in advance.

If you're describing the tube that holds the motor end of the teleflex-style steering cable, no, there aren't any nuts or other fasteners inside.

okay, so I should be able to just knock that thing out. It has been pretty stubborn so far. I may have to use a hoist to take take some of the weight off and try getting it free. Thank you for your response.

No luck on getting the tilt tube to budge. There is part of the steering arm and steering cable that has been cut off, still stuck in the tilt tube. I must have hit this thing for 2 hours with PB Blaster and a hammer and it didnt move 1 cm. Any other suggestions before I seek professional help?
