Tohatsu 6hp NFS-6 Impeller Change problem

I purchased a impeller rebuild/change kit for above motor. I went to drop lower housing (only two bolts). The housing dropped about 1 1/2 inches and seems to be stuck. I see three rods coming down housing (drive shift, drive shaft, and another rod). How do I drop the houseing rest of the way down to removed lower housing to get at water pump???

Any help appreciated.

Remove the grommet on the leg to access the shift coupler. You really need a service manual before you start to do your own service.

I have ordered one. Was trying to do this "simple" job without it. Was not as simple as seemed .

... and that is why marine mechanics charge $75-100 per hour ;-)
