Re: Tohatsu M15B no spark

Both plugs or just one ? Could be a faulty Ignition Coil or CD issue. To check Ignition, disconnect both connectors from plugs, disconnect ignition wire , place tester tip touching cable end, other to ground, must read 2- 3 ohms, if 0 or much than 3 could be faulty. For CD will need special tester that reads DVA Volts measured while cranking engine. Should read between (198-220 DVA) Could also be a faulty wire end from coil or faulty Plug Cap ?

Be advised that you have a 3-decade-old museum piece, so beware the money pit. No carb stuff is available any longer, for example. But... if you do want to try, start with the Factory service manual, Part# 003-21035-1, $45.00, available from any dealer, including me. Diagnose the issue by referring to the table of resistance values. use a good analog ohm meter. Test the exciter (NLA), trigger (NLA), CD (over $212.00), and ignition coil (about $50.00). Some bits may interchange from a 25-year-old 15B2, but beyond that, you will be adapting stuff from a newer motor if it will fit. YMMV.
