Hi folks:
I just installed a new impeller. My 1st outboard water pump ever. On first start-up: no water exiting the pee hole. I just removed the lower unit again to find the the metal tube still in the upper half looked bent. I assume I did this, by improper alignment. Any idea of what I did wrong, or how this can be prevented?
Thanks

Re: Tohatsu M90A-no H2o pressure-new impeller

Reinstalling the LU requires some finesse. The water tube, shift rod, and driveshaft must all engage correctly. Usually, the tube will line up pretty well with the grommet in the top of the pump housing if the motor is in a normal, vertical orientation when installing the LU. If the tube is half-way out, it will be compressed and bent when you tighten the LU bolts.

At this point, if the tube can be straightened, fine. If not you will want to replace it. Then be very careful mating the LU to the exhaust housing.

Thanks PVANV:
I straightened the water tube, then re-installed the LU. It worked! I have h20pressure. :)
