Tohatsu MFS 20 charging circuit?

Hi folks,

My motor (S/N 008307XH) is obviously manual/rope start, but does it share a battery charging circuit with the electric start models? I have basic 12V electronics on the boat (VHF radio, small sounder & simple GPS) and would like to charge the battery under way if possible. Looking at the wiring diagrams in the user manual, I don't see a separate alternator on the EF & EP models with electric start.

Any advice appreciated,

Yours already has the AC side on it, so, all you should need is the rectifier to be in service. You can get the rectifier from any Nissan, Tohatsu, Evinrude or Mercury dealer as the 15/20 current engine is the same under all four labels

Yep. The lowest-cost part will be the Tohatsu 3BJ761602M RECTIFIER KIT (F15C/F20C), $135.14, available from any dealer, including me.

Thanks guys, good info. I'll look into installing the rectifier, especially if I use an electric trolling motor. I assume the kit mentioned has all parts needed?
