I have a Tohatsu m40c, the existing prop/washer stack is as follows: Thick brass washer/prop/thick brass splined washer/regular washer/castle nut.
I got a new prop that I thought would fit, and it does, sort of. The splines are the same, the clearance with the gear housing is good, but the hub of the new prop is longer and doesn't allow me to use the splined thick brass washer at the back end of the stack. Do I need to use this washer, or can I just run it without?

I posted this on the prop forum as well, but thought I'd try here in case there is Tohatsu specific info...
