You guys might have allready heard this . Talk about someone who needs some help on boating ! lol

Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.
NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE.
Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer! :p

That was a 'Mythbusters' episode not too long ago. Sorry, but I wouldn't want those people on my rivers or lakes. Talking about not paying attention.

New meaning to an ezee-load trailer huh??:D

That is an "urban legend" that has been floating (no pun intended)around for years. As soon as I read "Folks new to boating"I suspected, then "no matter how hard they tried"I knew what was coming.
A fun story.Actually If you think about it you wouldn't have to jump in to tell it was still on the trailer. The winch would surely be sticking out of the water.Come on you other old timers you must have heard this one before.

That story's been floating around for years. The way I heard it, the first time, was that it was a woman who got the boat in a divorce.

Re: Too funny !

I actually saw an asian couple do that outside of Spkane WA about five years ago. One of the guys that I work with took his boat down to the marina. They took the hitch pin out for some reason and forgot to put it back in. The toung weight held it in for a while but as he backed down the ramp it came out and all went hauling down into the water uncontrolled. Idiot.

Yup that one is right up there with the one where the guy sets his Cruise control in his motor house and gets up to make some coffee.

Re: Too funny !

This is a true story! The reason I know this is that when I was about 10 years old I witnessed it with my Grandpa (He is the one that got me into boating, and the reason I purchased a Glastron...gotta keep with the tradition).

We were out fishing in Rife Lake, Washington and a boat comes sputtering up next to us. The guys asks my Grandpa if he knows much about boats. My Grandpa modestly says well, a little bit...but he has owned a boat since I can remember and although he is no mechanic he was pretty smart when it came to boating. The Man tells my Grandpa that the boat was running fine before he shut it off and anchored to fish when he started back up it just seemed like it had no guts to it. My Grandpa asks the guy in a smart a** way "Did you pull up the anchor?" The guy gets mad at my Grandpa for even asking and says "Doesn't it look like I did?"

My grandpa asks him to start the motor....everything sounds fine. He tells him to put it in neutral and rev it up, things still sound fine. He tells him that there must be something wrong with the prop. He tells him to trim the motor all the way up so he can take a look. The guy trims the motor up and my Grandpa just about falls out of the boat from laughing so hard....I still didn't know what he was laughing at....next thing you know a Red Bouy comes floating from around the boat. The guy looked at my Grandpa and said " Oh I must have hit that when I anchored off to fish. He tries to pull it into the boat and it was connected to a line at the other end. It was too heavy for the guy to even pull it up...yet he dragged it around with him for almost 10 minutes....apparently the rope got caught around the shaft and as he kept moving forward it was keeping it on the shaft. .....It just makes me wonder why he would insist on trying to power it around the lake instead of shutting it off and taking a look.....Those are some good memories....for me...not for the guy towing around a bouy anchored to something heavy...hahahhahah
