Hey all I have a mecury 1150 up till last week it was mounted on my 16.5ft tri hull she was a good runner but last Sunday I bought a 24ft deck boat so I swapped the motor to that fired up ran great except she will not i mean WILL NOT plane out 3000 rpms at WOT feels like a engine issue however my first thought was prop I triple checked everything on the engine today link and sync carb settings all plugs look good so I'm thinking it has to be too much prop is 17 pitch too much ??

Thanks in advance

115hp from 16.5' boat to 24' boat? Probably need to drop 6" or more in pitch, but I'm thinking that's not near enough hp for a 24' boat that's probably rated for 300 or more hp.

What's the max wot rpm range that motor is rated for factory stated ? To check how over pitched the current prop could be...going for 6 less prop pitch reduction is a real exaggeration...

Happy Boating

The boat is only rated for a 200 hp and I'm not looking to break any records she's gonna be slow but I should be able to plane out and get up to atleast 20 mph IMO especially since I was able to do just that once when my wife got off and my buddy was standing on the nose of the boat

Hard to say without knowing GR of engine, how much your boat weighs, how much extra weight in people and gear. Would also help to know current prop and pitch.
