First of all, the motor has performed flawlessly since I bought the boat 6 weeks ago. Also, it has been maintained by the same people through three owners since it was new. However, men are curious, and I took the cowl off of it today just to have a look... I found these loose wires and this loose hose and am now a little worried...

I have a text in to the mechanic who has serviced it, but haven't heard back from him... thought I might try here too... please look at the pics... I put informational captions on each picture.

The motor left the factory with that hose laying in the cowling.----It acts as a " sump pump " so to speak.----Do not modify / change it.

Ahhhh... that makes so much sense.

No thoughts on the wires? My first inclination is to hook them back up... but not sure.

Thanks for the response.

The first 2 wires look like the VRO tank. The single wire looks like the S.L.O.W wire from the temp sender.

The first two wires have been disconnected for a long time... I wish the dadgum mechanic would get back with me. He works a regular job and only does boats on the side, and his regular job keeps him busy. When you say VRO tank, I assume you mean some type of sender or alarm and not something that makes it work to send oil to the cylinders, since it has been running fine.

When I.say VRO tank I.mean a tank that held oil for the VRO system. Those wires are for the low oil alarm which you probably do not have. Are you mixing the fuel at 50-1.

No... the pump is working fine. I knew what you meant, LOL... I always make sure the tank is full before we start out.

They are unhooked for a reason find out why. The tank could be a bad sensor and the temp switch could be bad.

That's why I texted the mechanic... sigh... haven't heard back. I guess I'll leave it like it was since it was running fine. It's all easy to get to.

The orangish wires down by the main power coupling were unhooked on purpose for sure. The ones on the back of the motor could have possibly vibrated loose; I'll find out.
