First thing is first. Thanks to everyone and VERY valuable information at this place. I finally got my build done (replaced floor, replaced and beefed up stringers/hull support, replaced and beefed up transom, cut out splashwell and built a rear "deck" the same height at the top of boat, new splashwell, wiring, permanent gas tank, etc, etc, etc). Well after some more valuable information in the motor repair section, got the motor fired up, triple checked everything and headed out to the lake. Was REALLY scared and so was the GF (she was actually really nervous, more nervous than the first time after we bought the wreck). Had a very successful launch, other than forgetting to unplug the lights (have an extentible tounge on the trailer and well, the wires just aren't long enough for the 8 feet of extension *laugh*). Motor started RIGHT up, ran pretty good, needs some more work though. Found out I need to loose another 100lbs or so or add some weight to the passenger side of the boat, or even smart tabs. Boat sits higher, handles waves WAY better, feels REALLY strong, and is going to be a blast this year. I know I should have taken pictures while I was rebuilding the boat, but time to work on it was VERY hard to come by. Now that it's done I'll take some pictures of it. Next year, new gel coat and trailer work!

Re: Took it out today

Congratulations on the successful relaunching. You have really put some work into it.

That must be the difference between a GF and a wife. My wife said, you just worked on the engine, take the boat out and if it doesnt break, maybe I'll go next time. :)

Re: Took it out today

Well she had to come with me :) We, yes WE, managed to do all this is a month and a half, and if it wasn't for her putting up with me when things weren't going well, or her putting up with all the grinding and re-glassing I would still be in the garage working on it hehehe. She felt she deserved to be the first (and only) passenger on the maiden voyage and I couldn't agree with her more. It's been 6 years, all of her friends are getting married, and she's still willing to be a part of all my hobbies, I'm thinking her time is coming soon! :)

Thanks for the congrats, I'll see if I can't get some pictures in the next couple days.

Re: Took it out today

oh yeah the good ol' tilt and trim. The motor on my beast is a '72 Johnson 100hp. I guess they only made a power assist for it and never a tilt and trim. I was having a hard time always trying to lift and lock the motor before it went on the trailer. Was quite fed up. I was told there was NO WAY that I could get on for it, but lucked out and found a '76 t&t that I modified (my first passion is metal working), $150 later I had a '72 Johnson with power tilt and trim. Of course nothing can stay sweet forever, couldn't get the motor to go down, let out the release screw, got the motor down and working again, but now I get leaks from around the release screw *ARRGGG*.

I hope you have more luck because you're boat really is beautiful and looking great!
