Its rather messy filling up the lower unit with oil, is there a professionals tool out there that is an alternative to forcing the oil into the lower unit by other means than squeezing the crap out of the bottle of lower unit oil?

Hey! whats up with that? why could'nt you do a search at the mega mall on this forum?
It sure seems that some of you folks come on here just to get a bunch of free advice, but prefer to purchase your boating products elsewhere without even checking out iboats prices first, in my opinion, it is simply in good taste to recommend the host before others :)

Ditto there Vlad!

Lookie Lookie....iboats is WAAAAY cheaper
Lube Pump @ iboats

I have found iboats to be very competitive in pricing. Unfortunately, when I need something, it's usually an emergency and I have to buy it locally.

There's another simple and cheap product made for the squeeze tube type container of gear oil.

It's a clear plastic tube which screws tight onto the lube tube in place of the cap. The tube also has a screw fitting for the lower unit fill hole. It has a clamp on the hose.

When the tube is on the lube container and clamped, it doesn't leak - just like having the cap on the tube. You screw it into the lower unit, release the clamp, and squeeze in the lube. When it's full, you clamp it, and it prevents drain-back while you put in the vent screw. You then simply remove it from the lower unit and replace the fill screw. Pretty much non-messy, although I've found anytime you're anywhere near gear oil, there will be a mess. It's just a matter of degree!

I tried to find a similar product here at iboats, but couldn't.

Not sure if that was directed at me or not, but let me just say my post was asking if there was such a tool out there...I wouldn't even know where to begin for a key word search not knowing if such a tool even exists.

Probably my fault. My only point was that something does exist and they're usually as close as Walmart. I guess shouldn't have used another marine supply site to show it. Just didn't think about it.

I think the best tool for filling the lower gearcase is the tube in which the gear oil comes. Follow the directions on the squeeze tube. Remove both screw plugs; drain oil; insert conical tube cap in the lower hole; squeeze till oil comes out of the upper hole; install upper screw plug; remove conical tube cap; install lower screw plug; tighteen both screw plugs.
