I use a mighty-vac 8500. Pressurize to 15 psi, use soap and water to look for leak

Had the same problem on the same drive this year. I had to replace my shift shaft seal. I used a bike pump for pressure and a brake bleeder for vacuum. Screwed an oil filler into the drive. Hooked via hose to a t fitting. On one arm a pressure/vac gauge, and the other for the pump. I did do a standalone test to make sure my "rig" was airtight first so I knew if any leakage was coming from the drive and not my test apparatus.

Stevens Instruments makes a professional pressure and vacuum tester. Kinda pricy for a one time DIY'er. You might be able to pick up a used unit on EBay a little cheaper.

The mity-vac 8500 was only $85 on Amazon and does both pressure and vacuum

Had same issue this past spring and made my own pressure/vacuum tester after watching a few youtube videos for ideas
here's one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0KFoeIEcRs

Bicycle pump good for pressure testing - a cheap harbor freight vacuum pump switched out for the bicycle pump to test for vacuum. Worked like a charm.

I had to buy a separate gauge that read in the proper increments.

Here's a good post with lots of ideas on making homemade
