Toon pressure testing

Good evening all,

I’m struggling to find any boat repair shops that do toon pressure testing in the Central Illinois area - was wondering if any of you had any repair shops that you’ve used in Illinois or even western Indiana. I’m willing to commute if need be!

Unfortunately yes, took about 6 gallons of water out of one of the toons last time we went out on the water for a couple hours.

do it yourself. use a small compressor, and a blow-off nozzle. you want to simply put the end of the blow off nozzle in the top vent hole, and simply put your fingers around it. you do not want a good seal as you are only going to need to add about 2-3 psi to the toon logs while someone else checks for leaks around the M brackets with soapy water (a bottle of 409 works perfect). 99.99% of the leaks are at the weld of the M brackets.

more than 3 psi and the toon log will explode and may kill you.

then mark the weld cracks and take it to a welder to have welded.

Put it in the water, you get in the water and place your ear on the offending tube...listen for the leak...worked for me. My tubes were not pressurized at the factory, and there is no schrader valve for adding air, just a drain plug.
