I am reassembling a 1990 40 hp Evinrude and I am stuck. The disassembly was done by a shop a year ago. Everything went smooth until I tried to line the crankshaft bearings up with the alignment pins. The center bearing lines up and the bottom bearing, no pin, lines up. The top bearing holes are about an inch from lining up. It appears the bearing is to large and since I did not do the disassembly I really need some help here! I have attached pictures. Pic 1 shows the the alingnment when on the crank - note the bearing hole and the portion of the bearing that extends toward the flywheel. Picture two shows the bearing without the crankshaft. The bearings lays in nice and lines up flush with the block. Anyone know what is going on here?
