I removed my top cover. When I reinstall it what should I torque the 4 bolts down to ???

My service manual just says to remove the bolts and then reinstall them when putting it back together. It never gives a torque value.

Thank You

OK , It's a Mercruiser 140 and the top cover on the Mercruiser stern drive. I think it's a Alpha. The one with the loop on the top.

Ah, that top cover.
If it's got the loop I don't think it's an Alpha. Maybe a MC1.
If that's the case I think it's 20 ft. lbs. Or tight enough.

Thanks, that was what I was thinking.

As a friend...you should be thinking about getting a factory service manual for your outdrive. Many times torque can be critical and failures on the water can be "very" expensive....Years back I requested from the good folks on this forum as to where I could locate a manual for mine and a link was posted for me. I copied the entire manual to my thumbdrive so now I can open it up and get any information I need.....oh and it will be the correct info for my outdrive, not some almost close enough information from some aftermarket source. Just a recommendation!!
