I've got a 77 Glastron SSV-177 and I need to repair the floor and transom. Well, I've removed the floor and the motor. I figured it would be easier to repair the transom with the top moved back a bit. I've removed the trim and screws and cut the cap off some of the transom area to separate. Alas it won't budge. I cannot see where it would still be connected and am getting frustrated. Any assistance would be great. I'm new to this but I think i'm capable. Question; can the foam in the rear of the boat hold it together enough that it won't budge?

Go to the UserCP section. Go the the Settings and Options section, click on Edit Options and scroll down to the bottom. In the miscellaneous options section select the "Standard Editor Extra formatting controls" selection and you will get the options you need to do your picture editing.

I thought that this cut would allow me to pop the top, but it didn't. Further searching revealed

Looks like the splash well is glued and fiberglassed to the transom. It was difficult enough to get down in this area to take the picture. I can't imagine getting in there and fiberglassing. The hose on the right is going into the bilge area. On the left you'll notice some cuts where I tried to separate the glass from the transom. The two stringers are rotten and need work. A guy at West Marine said to add a couple of six oz. layers and that would be stronger then replacing the wood. I question that.

Re: Top Help, Please!

Well, finally separated top. To clarify the type of boat it's a SSV 176 not 177. The 177 is an inboard and 176 an outboard. Sorry for that bit of misinformation. But as I was saying the top in the stern was glassed in from underneath and difficult to separate. I actually used a machete as a chisel and traced a line around the splashwell. The top was also glassed in on the bow side of the console. Now on to supporting the top so work can begin.
