Just finished my resto for my 1959 Jet 15 (these are the pre "lapstrake years). It's got a '74 Johnson 50 (which is the max rated hp for this boat) and a 17 pitch prop. My top speed is 29 mph on the gps...does this sound about right? Motor runs great , just thought it would be faster for so much power on these little, lightweight aluminum runabouts....

I don't have a tach yet, that is my next step. Just wondered what other Jet owners were getting for their top speeds. I also took the windshield off this boat as I hate trying to see out of them on these little runabouys...would that make a difference? Also did the speed test with just me in the boat for lightness

no, at about 30 mph, doubt your windshield or lack thereof makes a signif difference in air drag
