top speed ?

ok i got a 1997 sylvan 17 pro select with a 1978 merc 1150 il6 how fast should she run at wot ,is 45 to much to hope for?....Have a 17 and 19 pitch al props.....finally got her running good (fuel line problems )but the weather has been #4&*!$ , the rigs weight almost 25oo lbs loaded (fuel ,gear,batteries,and 25 hp kicker)...i'm pretty sure that with the 19pitch worn out prop rpms was 5200 to 5300, speedo is goffy and i always seem to foget the gps on unlimited hp lakes ,and 19 prop has been recently rebuilt havent tried the 17 yet...what do ya think

well got to the lake and she ran great,40 mph with the 19 pitch,and 37 with the 17 pitch..,rpms were 5200 with 19 and 5350 with 17...,ps i forgot my gps AGAIN but i had a friend in another boat verify what my speedo was reading......any comments,ideas,advice

I think you need to play with set-up on that boat RPM sounds low and that is hard on your motor.

Yea...RPM is about 500-600 low. Can you raise the engine on the transom???

i'm going out again this weekend and i will remember the gps and double check the rpm's due to the lousy weather we had (2-3ft wave action due to nasty winds)didn't get her trimmed out as much that day has me wondering if my results are correct,the ventalation plate is almost 1 inch above the keel,is that ok?
