Topside Paint?

I am restoring my little boat. I have stripped some paint down but not all the way to the fiberglass. What would happen if I primer and paint over the existing gelcoated paint that I already wet sanded?

Interlux has POLY-enamel, in various colors 1Qt @ $35.00.
Ipainted my swim platform 3 years ago, still looks good
